The candidates above the following minimum cut-offs in the sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile will be considered for all the successive stages. Minimum percentile cut off keeps changing from year to year and will be updated on the official website once the CAT 2018 results are released.
The old IIMs will conduct their CAT selection procedure separately.
The recent IIMs established during 2015-16, such as IIM Sirmaur, IIM Jammu and IIM Nagpur release their merit list based on CAT percentile and profile and do not conduct GD/WAT-PI rounds.
However, the new IIMs conduct Common Admission Process (CAP) rounds. Participating IIMs announce individual shortlists and the candidates appear for a common WAT and PI rounds where representatives from all IIMs assess their performances. Further, the IIMs declare separate institute wise merit lists based on their individual admission and selection criteria.
CAT Selection Procedure at Non-IIM B-schools
The non-IIM B-schools conduct separate selection procedure. The selection procedure includes either or Group Discussion (GD) or Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview. Institutes like IMT Ghaziabad and MICA conduct Group Activity instead of Group Discussion. Few other institutes conduct both Group Discussion or Group Activity as well as essay writing/writing ability test along with Personal Interview rounds.
Shortlist Process at CAT Participating Institutes
Each institute has their own CAT cut-off percentile. You must apply to the institutes accepting CAT scores within the deadline. The admission committee of the institutes assesses the candidates’ eligibility based on their CAT 2018 percentile, past academic records etc. Qualifying candidates are shortlisted the successive rounds.
