Reading: Carrying 1 mark for each question, the Reading Section has a total of 40 questions with a strict time limit of 60 minutes. The question ranges from factual and descriptive to analytical and discursive.
Writing: This section consists of 2 questions.
The first question may ask the examinees to give a detailed analysis on any graphical image or diagram expressing their understanding of the same.
The second question will require you to write an essay in 250 words. This question evaluates your clarity of situations.
Listening: In this section the examinees are made to listen to audio recordings of conversations of native English speakers. The audio includes accents of English speaking countries .You are required to answer questions based on the audio recordings.
Speaking: This test consists of a face to face interaction between the examiner and the examinees. The examinees are assessed on the basis of his articulation of the English language, his choice of words, vocabulary and fluency.
The Reading and Writing tests vary for the General test takers.

The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an admission requirement for many graduate schools across many countries including the United States and Canada. The GRE is owned and administered by Educational Testing Service. Anyone who is planning to pursue their Master’s abroad can take the GRE. A few business schools demand the applicants to take the GRE to foresee his success rate.

There are 2 types of GRE test:
GRE General Test- The GRE general test is a required admissions exam for getting into many graduate schools across many countries. Its goal is to develop a standardized test to help B schools select qualified applicants.

Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions to undergraduate courses particularly in the United States and Canada. The test is intended to assess a student’s preparedness for college by measuring his literacy, numeracy and writing skills that are needed for academic success in college. SAT assesses how well the test-takers analyze and solve problems.
The SAT has two main sections:
Evidence Based Reading and Writing and Math.
The Evidence-Based Reading and Writing comprises two tests: Reading and Writing & Language.
The Math section comprises a single test with two components - a no-calculator section and a calculator section. The SAT also includes an optional Essay. Some schools may require the essay, so be sure to ask before you take the SAT.
There is no such age limit set for students who are planning to appear in the SAT test

Test of English as a Foreign Language or TOEFL is a standardised test which assesses a candidate’s speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, and is mostly used by universities to judge the English proficiency of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
TOEFL is mostly undertaken by students who are planning to pursue higher education abroad. It also qualifies a student for a scholarship and eventually his desire to work abroad. This test is accepted in over 11,000 universities across 150 countries, particularly the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe and Asia. After IELTS, TOEFL is the most widely accepted English language test in the world .
This test was initially a paper-based test, when it was introduced 57 years ago, it subsequently phased out in favour of computer-based and then Internet-based test formats which could be taken only at authorised test centres. After the pandemic broke out last year, the ETS also started offering an Internet-based test that could be taken using home computers, with online proctors
The TOEFL exam pattern comprises four sections, Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing .
Reading- The Reading section requires the students to answer questions based on undergraduate textbooks or academic topics. It consists of 3-4 passages on academic topics and requires students to complete summaries and fill out tables.
Listening- Listening section consists of questions based on conversations, classroom discussions and lectures. Candidates may take notes while carefully listening to these discussions as, they will be asked to answer questions based on these topics of discussion
Speaking- In this section, a student is evaluated on his ability to speak spontaneously and convey his ideas clearly and coherently. Topics include academic and analytical fields.
Writing: In this section, you will have to write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks. You will also have to support an opinion in writing.
There are no specific eligibility criteria for the TOEFL exam prescribed by the ETS, the body that conducts the TOEFL test. It is given by students who wish to get admission to universities, colleges, or educational institutions of English-speaking countries.

Pearson Test of English or PTE is a computer based English language test designed for students who aspire to study or settle abroad. This test is undertaken by students to prove their English language competency and is widely accepted by educational institutions around the world.
The distinguishing factor about PTE is that it is a completely computer based test and the results are declared quickly as compared to other English language tests.
It tests the Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills of the candidates. It is accepted in countries like New Zealand, Canada, USA and the UK for study, work or immigration purposes.
There are 3 formats of PTE: PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Home.
PTE Academic- designed for students, this test is conducted throughout the year and its scores are valid for a period of 2 years.
PTE Academic UKVI-this test is approved by the UK Home Office for all UK visas and is a better choice for those who wants to study, work or live in the UK.
PTE Home- this test is designed by the UK Home Office for family and work related visas.
This test evaluates a student’s abilities on his Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills.
Speaking and Writing –this section assesses a student’s spoken and written skills. Spoken skills covers fields like personal introduction, retell lecture, read aloud etc. written skills covers fields like essay writing, summarizing written text etc.
Reading – this section tests a student’s ability to answer multiple choice questions, re order paragraphs, fill in the blanks etc.
Listening- a student is expected to answer questions on the basis of an audio recording containing conversations. Questions may range from selection of missing words, summarizing spoken text to writing from dictation.
The conducting body of PTE has not directed any criteria for taking this test. The only criteria being the candidate should be above 16 years of age while taking the test.
